Welfare fraud refers to an action done to intentionally misuse state welfare systems by receiving benefits of which one is not entitled to. Either one uses false information to qualify for benefits or one collects benefits that are supposed to be for someone else.
Gather the necessary details about the welfare scam or fraud
In the event that you encounter or suspect welfare scam or fraud, get the necessary details first. Examples of relevant details needed are the name of the person, false information and documents, and the like.
Immediately contact your welfare agency to report the fraud
As soon as you have the necessary evidence or information, you should contact your state welfare agency through phone, e-mail, fax, mail, or through their website.
It is important to make a follow-up about the welfare fraud report you filed. Fraudsters who use up taxpayer money that should have been used by those who really needed the help should have the appropriate civil and criminal action filed against them.

The worst crimes are not always the most violent. Bloody enough to cut one's life immediately. Sometimes, the worst offenses are those, which slowly, but definitely deprives persons from their rights, such as the right of the poor especially the children to receive welfare support. Welfare fraud is among the most prevalent crimes in the US. In fact, the courts never run out of people accused of the crime. Whether they are young or retired, employed or jobless, single parents or not, all these people are guilty of falsifying documents just to be entitled to a social benefit. Many of them perhaps, might have really been qualified for the support. Yet giving false information just to increase the worth of a social benefit is already a big crime punishable by law.
I wonder what kind of conscience do these people have. Or do they have one? These criminals illegally work their way just to milk cash from the government. And we're not simply talking about a small amount. These criminals often amass hundreds of thousands of dollars by committing multiple frauds. Ironically, they rob the welfare fund, while the other people struggle just to get a piece of it. These criminals should be stopped while the deserving people should be helped by the government in order to avail benefits.

You may not know it, but welfare fraud is increasingly becoming a problem in most countries of world. Therefore, it is very important that you arm yourself against the possibilities of falling prey to welfare fraud. It's a good thing that there are some companies that are committed to battling welfare fraud issues. Furthermore, these companies have programs that will help its members in case an incident regarding welfare fraud happens. Take, for example, United Council for Welfare Fraud. The said organization has a program called Certified Welfare Fraud Investigator (CWFI) Program that will truly benefit several people.
However, there are some requirements before a person can enjoy the benefits of the Certified Welfare Fraud Program. There are definitely conditions required. First is that a person, who wishes to enjoy the certification of said program, must be an investigator -- full time! Second is that the person must abide by all riles and regualtions depending on the government standards. Third, it is a must that the person is able to complete a Certification Exam for CWFI. Fourth, it goes without saying that the person must be a member of the United Council on Welfare Fraud. Fifth, it is wholly significant that every law, be it local, federal, or state, must be followed at all times.

Benefit fraud is among the most common, yet often overlooked crimes in the US. Although this crime comes in various forms, there stands to be only one indication that a person has committed it. An individual then is guilty of benefit fraud hen he or she is receiving financial support from the government to which he or she is not entitled to.
One way to commit benefit fraud is by simply not accurately reporting your income. In other words, you intentionally falsify the records of your income in order to reduce the amount of your income tax. Another is by not stating the true number of dependent children in your family. For instance, you report that you have three dependent children when in fact the 3rd is already exempted from the benefit. Yet benefit fraud does not only stop in falsifying income tax records. Other cases occur in availing welfare as well as other social security programs.
Authorities require individuals who are qualified for welfare programs to report their exact family savings or their present income. These data then would determine how much they are going to receive. However, some people register false information with the hope of increasing their benefits. Since the government loses around $1.5B due to benefit fraud, it has also reinforced its strategies in order to track down violators.

The government is giving income support for its people who are not capable of supporting their basic needs like food, shelter, and clothing. The recipients of the said benefits are the disabled persons and those who have severe sickness--making them incapable of working to earn income. Abandoned and abused children are also taken care of by the government. Moreover, single parents and families that have insufficient income also have the right to claim benefits.
However, there are also instances wherein people who are not qualified for the income support program claim benefits that are not supposed to be given to them. This is committed if the person claims that his or her parents are gone. Also, if the person did not report increase of his income, for it will disqualify him from receiving the benefit. Further, a person can also be accused and caught for fraud if he claims privileges from two countries. Whatever the reason and excuse is, fraud is still a crime committed not only against the government but also to the people. And if a person continues to get benefits from the government, he is depriving many people of their benefits.

Welfare fraud is a punishable offense because the offender makes ill use of taxpayers' money. It is a criminal act that is so common yet so discreet it is impossible for law enforcers and state departments to track and make arrests of offenders. Good thing that Los Angeles Country in California formed an agency that will handle welfare fraud cases.
The county's Public Services department formed the Bureau of Special Operations for Welfare Fraud Prevention and Investigations (WFP&I) to track fraudulent cases for litigation. And part of the bureau's offensive is to include citizen participation. People can help stop welfare fraud by reporting offenders through the Internet or through the phone.

Welfare agencies have a policy to keep your identity as confidential as they possibly can. It's your hard-earned tax money that these people are abusing, you have to give a helping hand to ensure that these people will be punished for crimes they committ about your money.

Welfare fraud is caused by citizens who don't know the effects of what they are committing, people who take advantage of the benefits from the welfare fund; that's because welfare fraud is something that we, as citizens, pay for. If welfare fraud is committed, the taxpayers pay more for the welfare fund, now, how do we know we're committing it?
Well, that's when we report false accusations on parents being absent from their homes, when we receive benefits from two states at the same time, and when we fail to report sudden changes in household finances, income that affects the taxpaying process. So, if these circumstances happen, we should know, it's fraud, and it's affecting everybody.

To simplify things, welfare fraud is the attempt to acquire anything within the legal parameters of law, and, or in the business sector, like property, income, financial assets, the rights or any privileges, that is forced out of falsifications; Falsifications of dealers, statements, contracts, or any form of misrepresentations. In short, any illegal transactions that are based on fraud is considered welfare fraud. So, if you are aware of any circumstance that you think is welfare fraud, there are sites on the internet where you can apply for a legal complaint, or any reports can be made through your department of human services.
