Functions of Child Welfare Systems

Child welfare systems are considered as complex. Also, their specific procedures vary widely by State. Child welfare systems typically receives and investigate reports of possible child abuse and neglect. They provide services to families who need assistance in the protection and care of their children. They also arrange for children to live with foster families when they are not safe at home. Lastly, they arrange permanent adoptive homes or independent living services for children leaving foster care.
